Getting a motorbike license in Singapore

Today was J, D and L's first practical lesson on how to ride a motorbike. I thought they were joking when they said that the first lesson was 3 hours long. They weren't. First there's a 1 hour orientation, followed by the actual 2 hour lesson.

During the orientation, the instructor asked if anyone had prior experience and J was the only one. He'd learned during his army days, having been deployed to the Supply & Transport division. His vocation was to fix and test bikes.

So J got to advance to going round the circuit, while L and D practiced starting their bikes and mastering the art of changing gears and braking.

Unfortunately, they didn't master shifting to a lower gear and braking. So they'll have to take that first lesson again. Meanwhile, J breezes through to the next lesson which comprises of 'S' curves and don't know what else. J is so smart!

I kept myself busy with some reading:

Nothing in it that I need right now, but good information to have for when the time and circumstances call for it.

Interestingly, of the 3, only 1 told his mother. Guess which one?

Hahaha... my usual haunt these days. I'm taking Class 2A now. I still remember how I struggled with the bike when I was a new 2B student!
